What types of movies do you watch usually?
Hollywood movies? Your own local movies? Or more various types of movies…
What genres of movies do you normally watch?
Are you an action-adventure fan, romance lover, or a fan of scary shocking movies? Or do you like to watch movies that make you laugh your heart out and roll on the floor?
Usually we watch a certain type of movies and stick to it. But what if there is whole new world to watching a totally opposite kind of movie?
If we never try something new and totally out of the box, will we ever discover of fun it might have been?
That’s why I have recently started on an adventure of watching new various movies from different countries. While I usually used to stick to American movies, now I’m also trying…
And let me tell you that it is so much fun, and a great learning experience!
Each movie, brings a gift from the culture of its country and opens a new window in front of you where you can see the world with a new light.
Because every part of the world, and every culture has its own Gift…
It is like you have traveled so far to that country and have met and been with the people for a while and learned about their interesting cultures and way of life.
Yes, even though I agree some movies from other countries may not look as flawless as some famous Hollywood movies, but still who cares? As long as it has a great story and brings unique insights, it’s definitely worth trying, right?
So how can we find out the very best foreign movies to watch and save time from trying not-so-good ones?
I always first research about the best movies online and then only get them. Because you know how 95% of all movies made are not that strong and may just have a shallow storyline or acting.
So what about you?
Have you ever tried to watch a good foreign movie with a foreign language? If so, how did you find the experience?
If not much, would you like to try it and on top of having new fun, also seeing the world from a new window?
Let’s Wow!

Good day Ladan. Yes, I always watch many foreign movies because some of them are very nice and unique.
I watch American, Indian, German, Australian, and Korean movies.
But have’t tried Japanese or Chinese one. Maybe I should do it and see how they are.
Thanks!
American movies especially the classics are worth watching. The musicals are really something.
Japanese movies like kurosawa’s are profound and a moving experience.
Indian movies are fun time pass filled with song and dance but you should try to understand the language becuase the subtitles dont convey the real meaning and subtle nuances behind the dialogues.
yes, been watching foreign movies ever since i was born, lol
i have “foreign movies” in my blood too, lol (i’m mixed)
ive watched brit, american, japanese, chinese, korean, thai, Philippines, indonesian, malay, hindi, tamil, french, spanish, arab, iranian, others !
i dont really understand what you mean by flawless, but if you mean perfect and high tech, I think there are many non-english movies which are perfect and high tech and some are naturally funny.
the experience? wonderful. each of them have their own uniqueness and personality
Hi Yasmin,
Great to find another foreign movie lover.
Yes, what I meant flawless was high tech and strong directors who make the movie not be boring for even a tiny second.
But then again, for some foreign movies it is their simplicity that is their perfection.
So where do you usually discover new great foreign movies? Any special source you could share with other foreign movie fans?
Your post is old, but foreign films have been on my mind lately.
I’ve been watching a lot of pop Thai films lately. Though they are usually what I seek out, it isn’t unusual for them to lead me to other movies, usually also of the mainstream foreign variety like “Amelie” or “Love, Actually”, but I won’t debate whether those count or not because I was lead to them primarily by Thai movies. I can say with certain that most Asian non-horrors or non-action movies will never be mainstream in America, which I think is a deplorable state of things since we Asian Americans don’t see a whole lot of representation in domestic films.
Genres don’t matter to me. I’ve been impressed by superhero movies, horror movies, dramas, romantic comedies, teen comedies, artsy movies…honestly, the films I tend to enjoy the most are the ones that don’t stick to one genre. One of my favorite films at the moment is a Horror/Drama/Coming-of-Age movie.
